The Philippines 1996

In August 1996 Evelyn and I took a vacation to visit the Philippines.

This was my First trip and while I did not document our trip online like I did during subsequent trips, I did take some pictures. I have just scanned them since this trip was in the dark ages before digital cameras.

I have also posted comments about the pictures, which hopefully are accurate. But are in no particular order.......

A view from the Window of Evelyn's Mothers house in Manila

This is Evelyns Aunts House in Bulacan.

This is also the house where she grew up.

The front yard of Evelyns old house. You will notice in our later trips that this house is torn down, then in 2007, a new house was built for her neice.
This is the stove at Evelyns Aunts house. A stone with wood burning under it.
We Visited Evelyn's Dad in Bulacan

Kuya Phillip and his sons went to the Taal Volcano.

The weather is much cooler up there!

Here is everybody trying to flag down a Jeepney in Manila.

A Jeepney is kind of like a Filipno Taxi

High Tide in Manila comes up through the sewers

Here I am on a Fake Jeepney outside my favorite Resturaunt in Manila.

The Singing Cooks and Waiters.

I prefer The Traditional side over the foriegn side. (Although the did a great rendition of Macho Man)

....and the Singing Husband

Actually we visited a place called Nyong Pilipino in Manila.

It has replicas of old Filipino buildings

We Visited a Mall in the upscale part of Manila (Makati)
